It’s always a tremendous honor when another photographer asks us to spend some time with them, taking photos. It’s like a badge of honor almost, like if a surgeon asked another surgeon to operate on them (ok, so it’s totally not the same, but we can pretend it is). So when Allison reached out to take some five year anniversary photos for her and Jason during a recent trip to Colorado Springs for a friend’s wedding, it was really pretty awesome. We took them to one of our favorite local spots at Garden of the Gods, and together we watched the sunset with Pikes Peak in the backdrop.

Spending the afternoon with these two was so much fun, and honestly we’re both a bit bummed that Jason and Allison live all the way in Ohio. We totally could picture ourselves hanging out with them, eating funfetti cake and kicking back a few beers, laughing and having basically the best time ever. We’re literally thinking of reasons we need to have them come visit us again! Or for us to go to Ohio? Hmmm. Haha!

Speaking of funfetti cake – at the tail end of our session, Allison got SUPER excited and yelled out, “oh my gosh, we have a present for you!!!!” She ran to their car, and hugged something close to her chest and beaming ear to ear, presented a box of funfetti cake mix. It was SO FREAKING THOUGHTFUL (all caps required), because she read somewhere on our website about how much we LOVE funfetti cake and it’s her favorite cake, too!! The day after their session, we had our kids bake the cake for us and it was pretty much the best thing ever.
