In the days leading up to Stephanie and Kyle’s rustic wedding at the beautiful Green Mountain Ranch in Lytle Creek, the area was struck with almost everything Mother Nature had to strike with – wildfire, torrential rain, flash flooding and a crazy incident that involved several cars and big rigs catching on fire right there on the I-215. On top of that, I wasn’t feeling too hot since I was still post-op from my whirlwind hospital week and surgery (and actually ended up hospitalized again just a couple of days after this wedding, but more on that later this week in a different blog). But nevertheless – the wedding went on, despite the rain and floods, fires and accidents!
Kyle and Stephanie are both archeologists, which aside from being a photographer might just be the coolest job in the world. They met five years ago while working on a dig site at King Gillette Ranch in Malibu, which is where Kyle proposed to Stephanie just about a year ago. Their entire wedding was a beautiful manifestation of their relationship – simple and kind, centered around faith and family. Although it poured the entire day, their spirits were never dampened – everyone had a great time, even Kyle’s grandma (who busted some moves in her wheelchair on the dance floor!).
The food looked and smelled amazing, and Randy and I loved the pie bar and the cute homemade decor. So much time and effort went into creating the little details, from the vintage windows that served as a seating chart, to the adorable arrow-themed invitations and place settings – everything was just perfect. I also just adored the gorgeous tulle bridesmaids dresses, that beautifully coordinated but did not match! I think my favorite part of the reception was the music – not only did they have a great DJ, but they had some friends play their first song and they also had a mariachi band entertaining their guests during cocktail hour.
I’m so thrilled to be able to share their wedding on the blog, it was so much fun! I can’t wait to go back to Green Mountain Ranch to shoot another wedding – it’s the perfect rustic venue for Southern California!
