Maroon Bells is one of the most beautiful places on earth – no matter what time of day, time of year, it doesn’t matter. So when Hao and Natasha asked us to photograph their sunrise engagement session at Maroon Bells in Aspen, we didn’t have to think twice! We woke up at 4 in the morning to get to Maroon Lake in time, and together we watched the most mountain sunrise, hiked through the wild flowers and groves of aspen trees, and listened to the nearby river. It was the most peaceful and incredible way to start our day!
Hao and Natasha flew in from the east coast for a friend’s wedding, and they decided to celebrate with their engagement with a sunrise session. The got engaged on a trip to Maui, and one morning they went to Haleakala to watch the sunrise. This was their first time and they got there a tad too late and had to settle for the second highest peak. But Natasha said the sunrise was gorgeous! From that point Hao knew that was the perfect place to propose. A few years later they took a vacation with friends and one of the last stops on their island hopping journey was Haleakala. It was perfect clear skies and they saw a green flash sunrise! Hao took a selfie with the ring over her shoulder and Natasha freaked out! He got on his knee and popped the question and Natasha was crying and hopping around like a little girl. Then they drove down the mountain and they all celebrated at a near by breakfast place at the foot of the volcano.
Amazing, right? These two will definitely have the most epic stories to tell for their grandkids one day!
