Before we move away from Colorado, there were a few places that I really wanted to have the opportunity to visit and Crested Butte topped the list. Noah and Katie asked for me to make the 10 hour roundtrip drive to check out the infamous fall foliage and of course I jumped at the opportunity to photograph their autumn engagement session in Crested Butte! And let me tell you – fall in Crested Butte is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen with my own two eyes.
I just wish that the one day that we were able to make the trek that it wasn’t absolutely pouring rain! Still totally worth it, though.
I loved hanging out with these two, hiking around the golden trees and freezing our tails off in the rain. Their engagement story is pretty funny, too – in their own words:
On January 21, 2017, Noah rushed Katie to get ready to go to Breckenridge…as usual. He had a friend waiting to take pictures of the proposal who had arrived at the location at 7:30am. As we were getting closer, Katie got impatient…as usual. When we got to Sapphire Point Overlook, Katie was ready to get back into the car because she walked opposite of where Noah wanted her to go because she thought the trail was snowed over and closed. After finally making Katie follow Noah, we got to the trail, which was behind the bathrooms and Katie thought that was weird. We got to the overlook and began to take our own pictures of the scenery while Noah’s friend got into a good position to take pictures. After five minutes, Noah states Katie got bored. Katie says she got cold. Katie finally turned away from Noah to kick a piece of snow off the ledge and yell “AVALANCHE!” as it rolled down the side only to turn around to find Noah on one knee with the ring. Katie turned around and the first thing she said was STFU.
Noah still hasn’t gotten an actual yes.
Hahaha!!!
Anyway – I’m really excited about their upcoming wedding this fall, and even more excited that Noah and Katie relocated to just outside Austin, so we can all hang out together once we’re in Texas this summer!
