All week last week I kept my eye on the weather – it kept going back and forth between typical California good and “oh-no, rain!!” and even on the way down, it was so cloudy. When we arrived for Barry and Jane’s Beverly Hills backyard wedding at the home of Jane’s aunt Evelyn, it was just barely starting to sprinkle. The backyard was set up with rows of white chairs, and a beautiful arbor covered with white roses stood where Barry and Jane would soon recite their vows. Originally, they were going to walk to the house from their hotel nearby but with the rain, they opted to arrive in style instead, in a big black SUV. We immediately did all of the family photos (LOVE when our brides have a detailed shot list!), and then, the music started and Barry took his place under the arbor. Jane was escorted by her two sons, and took her place with Barry.
It was a sweet ceremony, which included three readings from various family members, as well as an acoustic song to serenade them. The rain held off just long enough for the ceremony to finish, and once it was over the skies opened up just a bit, rained and then right as we were finishing up – the sun came out! It was so beautiful, to see the two of them tie the knot after being together for 22 years. Following the ceremony, there were some light appetizers and toasts to the new Mr. and Mrs. before they headed off to a private family dinner at Il Fornaio. We love these short, intimate weddings – they’re so personal and special to us!
