Corona Yacht Club Wedding, Coachella, CA
This past weekend was such a perfect way to start the 2016 wedding season; in fact, we couldn’t have imagined a more fun weekend! We spent all weekend with Kim + Kevin for their Corona Yacht Club wedding in Coachella. We’ve been looking forward to this weekend for so long – and we’re so thrilled to share these images with you guys on the blog today!
We started the weekend with an invitation to their rehearsal dinner on Saturday, which was hosted by Kim’s mom at her beautiful home in Indio. It was catered by a family friend (first time ever having Cambodian food, and it was delicious!), and was the best way to start this weekend-long celebration.
Then, on Sunday, we all headed down to Coachella to Corona Yacht Club for the big day! Kim did something we have never done before – she actually got dressed outside, in the shade of the beautiful grapefruit tree outside the bridal villa. It was so perfect – not sure why we’ve never had a bride get dressed outside before, but it’s definitely something we’ll be suggesting to future brides to consider!
They opted to do a first look before the ceremony, and their faces just said it all – what we were all there for: that these two are just so, so joyful and absolutely in love with each other. Kevin just couldn’t stop smiling at his bride-to-be, he was absolutely smitten and it’s not surprising: Kim looked like a vision in her Alfred Angelo wedding gown!
Their ceremony was led by Father Charlie Ara, who delivered one of the most memorable wedding sermon’s we’ve ever heard. It’s not often we can say that we giggled through a wedding ceremony, especially during the vows! Father Charlie had everyone joyfully laughing and crying, along with Kevin + Kim, as they promised to love each other through sickness and health, and through taxes and deductions … Seriously! Haha! The ceremony concluded with both sets of parents blessing the rings, and the lighting of the unity candle.
And then … oh yes, it was time to p-a-r-t-y!!
There was not only a DJ, but an amazing mariachi band who serenaded everyone, playing traditional Mexican music with their instruments. Kim’s dad, Rafael, even grabbed the mic and sang to his daughter and her new husband, bringing tears to everyone’s eyes with his beautiful voice. The rest of the night, everyone danced to a mix of pop songs and Mexican dance music, enjoying the open bar and the super yummy Mexican food buffet (chicken mole, cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, fajitas … basically the best food ever!) and when the late night party got going – they ordered fresh pizza from Rosati’s!
It was such a fun wedding weekend and we are so, so, so excited for Kim + Kevin as they start on this new adventure in life together!!
