What a totally rad (and first of its kind) experience for us!
We first met Amie a few months ago after she had seen her friend Lauren’s Rancho Bernardo wedding reception that we photographed. Amie was in the early planning stages of her daughter Emily’s bat mitzvah, and she asked us to come down to Poway to photograph it. Of course we were totally thrilled and honored, and excited because we had never been to a mitzvah celebration before!
Amie + Emily worked together to create quite an amazing party! Mostly everything was DIY, using all of Emily’s favorite candies and her favorite colors – bright pink and neon green! We especially loved the special chair that Amie made for Emily: painted her favorite shade of pink, with phrases, quotes and lyrics that represent her transition into young womanhood!
It was amazing to see how the community of their temple came together to celebrate Emily’s bat mitzvah. So many members of the church, as well as their friends and family, homemade some of Emily’s favorite desserts for the sweet treat bar. Randy + I got to try our first ever buckeyes, and OH-EM-GEE how have we never had those before?! Anyway, I definitely know what sweet treats Randy will be requesting that we make this upcoming holiday season for our family!
We weren’t able to watch the actual ceremony, but we did stay behind and help set up since we had a couple of spare hours while we were waiting. It was a lot of fun helping put together the tables, and watching all of the behind-the-scenes fun!
We’re so happy for Emily, this was definitely one thirteenth birthday party we’ll never forget!!
A big thanks going out to Emily’s rad creative team!
