Ever since we found this spot, we’ve wanted to take engagement photos at Rampart Reservoir in Woodland Park (a small mountain town just outside Colorado Springs). It’s really one of the most beautiful spots we’ve ever seen, and at sunset? It’s pretty much pure magic. We spent a warm summer afternoon hiking around Rampart Reservoir with our friends Heather and Eddie, celebrating their engagement and talking all about their upcoming fall wedding at Crooked Willow Farms!
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – when we get to hang out with new couples that we already know from previous weddings, it’s pretty much the raddest thing ever. We actually met them at a wedding last year, where Heather was the maid of honor and Eddie was one of the groomsmen. We actually saw the spark between them and thought they were secretly dating but not telling anyone yet … turns out, the wedding was where they actually met for the first time! Apparently at some point during the reception, Eddie even asked Heather to dance and she turned him down since she was eating a cupcake (thinking he was dating someone else), but she found out at the after party that Eddie was actually single.
They started texting and hanging out, and started talking about getting married when they both realized that this was “it” for them both. Eddie planned out a beautiful proposal just a few weeks ago; he took Heather up to the mountains to star gaze, sitting on the back of his truck. He pulled out a candle and a jar that was labeled “Start a Life with Heather.” Then he asked her what she wanted most in life, and after she responded with, “to marry you,” Eddie got down on one knee and proposed. Ahhh, swoon!
Enjoy some of our favorites from Eddie and Heather’s engagement photos at Rampart Reservoir!
