While it may be dumping snow outside in a blizzard here in Colorado Springs, I’m warm and toasty inside and so excited to be sharing Jason and Ashley’s engagement session at Crystal Creek Reservoir on the blog! This was actually photographed back in September (which is why Pikes Peak looks radically different than it does today), and it’s giving me all the warm and fuzzies needed on this chilly day.

Jason + Ashley are the literal cutest – we met up and took a drive up toward Pikes Peak and stopped off at Crystal Creek Reservoir to spend the afternoon together. Ashley’s daughter Mattie also tagged along, tossing rocks in the lake and giggling at the fun her mom + Jason were having with me (but boy did she get super shy when I tried to take her photo, haha!). Anyway, we took full advantage of the gorgeous fall foliage that was just starting to peek through up in the mountains and spent the afternoon enjoying the beautiful views!

I can’t wait for their wedding later this year, which is going to be at an apple orchard just south of Colorado Springs. It’s one of the handful of weddings I’m coming back to Colorado for, once we move to Texas. There’s really nothing quite like a fall wedding in an apple orchard! When it came time to decide on a wedding date, Jason + Ashley recognized the perfect date: September 21st. What’s so special about this date? It’s Ashley’s late father’s birthday, and a beautiful way to include him in their wedding plans. You see, Ashley lost her father four months before Jason proposed and so while he unfortunately he won’t be able to be at their wedding, he’ll be there in spirit and remembered in a wonderful way. I can’t think of a better way to honor him than that!
