Randy and Ashley, Friday Five, Abbi Hearne Photography

Friday Five | Vol. 3

August 5, 2016

Do you guys remember the days of TGIF on ABC? With Urkel, the Tanners, Cory + Topanga, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and the family from Step by Step? Man, those were the good days of television, right?! We wish Netflix would bring back all of these shows so our kids could watch them – especially Full House, Boy Meets World and Sabrina!! How RAD would that be!?!

Remembering the TGIF lineup of 90’s television has nothing to do with today’s Friday Five, but who all remembers those shows?! It was the best two hours of TV all week for us, and you better believe Ashley would watch Saved by the Bell the next day on Saturday morning!

Anyway … we hope you guys had a fantastic week!! Although we don’t have anything good to watch on TV tonight (especially since, you know, we don’t have cable TV hahaha!), we DO have some fun Friday Five facts for you that you might not know about!

Randy and Ashley, Friday Five, Abbi Hearne Photography

Friday Five | Vol. 3

1.) August 2nd was our 14th anniversary of Randy asking Ashley to officially be his girlfriend. He asked after only knowing Ash for four days … and we have been together ever since! Hey – when it’s right, it’s right! We have NO PHOTOS of the two of us dating, except for the day our oldest son was born. That’s it. Our first photos together are actually our wedding photos. Clearly we started dating before social media and cell phone cameras!

2.) We have moved a lot in the fourteen years we’ve been together. We moved in together in Yucca Valley right before we got married, then to Palmdale a month after we got married and then to Bakersfield 7 months later … We lived there for two and a half years before Randy enlisted in the Air Force and we moved to McChord AFB just south of Seattle, Washington for a year. Then we moved overseas to Okinawa, Japan for three years and 17 days (not that we counted or anything), back to the United States to Minot, North Dakota. After Randy completed his military contract there for 14 months, we moved on a whim to Colorado Springs. After we bought our first house, we moved to a different area in Colorado Springs about a year after living there. Then in the summer of 2014, we up and decided to move back to Yucca Valley and that’s where we live still. For now. Hopefully not for more than 2 or 3 more years – we’ve got some BIG dreams, y’all!

For those of you who lost count, that’s 9 major moves in 14 years.

3.) Ashley has the blackest thumb of anyone you’ve ever met. Once, she even killed a bonsai tree – which is supposed to be damn near impossible. She’s currently in the process of killing a fern … which Randy is trying to save. Ironic (and a little scary) since we dream about being homesteaders, living off our own land. Maybe Randy should handle all the gardening!

4.) We want to shoot a wedding in all 50 states before we retire. So far we’ve shot in Colorado, New Mexico and California. We’ve got a long ways to go – but we’ve talked about living in our RV with just the dogs after the kids all graduate from high school and move out in 10 years, just so we can travel all over the country and shoot weddings together!

5.) Randy’s been staying up every night this entire summer watching all the horror movies on Netflix. Ashley won’t watch any of them, so he watches them with headphones on … and he doesn’t even jump! He laughs at most of them! Do you guys have any recommendations on super scary movies for him to watch on Netflix??

  1. Stella says:

I’d like to think I have a sort-of green thumb, but I really don’t… No green in there at all! Haha I refuse to watch horror films too! Not a fan, sorry I can’t be of help, Randy!

  2. Misty says:

TGIF shows were totally the best! And holy smokes! You guys have moved a ton! I killed a cactus once…and I’m no help in the scary movie department but 10 cloverfield lane was pretty creepy to me!

Heyyyy ... I'm Ashley Durham and I'm a luxury wedding photographer in Phoenix, but I travel all over Arizona and the desert southwest to hang out with the most incredible people. I am obsessed with puppies, extra hot coffee, sunrise and firmly believe that love conquers all.
