Glitter Beards, Plaid Flannel and All Sorts of Ridiculousness
Like most people do, every year we gather together for a nice family session to use for our Christmas cards, and I use the phrase “nice family session” very loosely here. Randy and the kids tolerate more ‘formal’ family photos once or twice a year, but for Christmas? We like to have fun with it, and every year we have some sort of theme to design our outfits around.
This year our theme was GLITTER … as in a Glitter Beard
Randy painted his beard on using hair gel and gently dabbing glitter on … for the boys, I plastered (literally) their hair with gel, and dumped glitter on them outside, and then used hair spray to hold it in place. I wish I’d taken photos of the prep for these photos, we literally used nearly two massive containers of gold glitter for the boys’ hair and Randy’s beard … and even though we took these photos at the beginning of December, we are still finding glitter all over the house, the front yard, the car, the lint trap for the dryer – it’s pretty much everywhere. So if you ever plan on doing this, consider yourself warned!
A big thanks to my dear friend Danette Kay Photography for driving all the way to Oak Glen to hang out with us for the afternoon – we love you!
Here are just a few of our favorites … and some fun outtakes!
This might be my most favorite photo of Randy ever taken. Is it possible to use the word “Stoic” and “Glitter Beard” in the same sentence? Because really, babe – this is perfect!!
Proof that even photographer’s kids don’t behave at photo shoots. All you mommas and daddies out there: this is REAL life!
Noah: seriously, I’m showing this photo at your wedding.
Seriously though, glitter and hair gel don’t taste great … but his kisses are worth it! 😉
So from our family to yours …
