This past Saturday was a double header for us – for engagement sessions! We got to see the beauty of not only the desert sunrise, but also the desert sunset. First up for the day was Chris and Kelsey’s gorgeous sunrise Highway 74 engagement session in Palm Desert. Since we live on the complete other side of the valley and up in the high desert, it was definitely an early morning – up and at ’em at 3:30am, but let us tell you: it was TOTALLY worth it. There’s this really awesome lookout point about 10 minutes or so up highway 74, and the view at sunrise is breathtaking. You can even see the Salton Sea from up there!
We met up before the sun even started to peek over the mountains, and we semi joked/worried about how crazy this guy was who was riding a longboard skateboard at dawn around the bends of the highway, blaring his music next to us out of his car at the lookout point (it was definitely a memorable way to start the day, I’m sure the people who live nearby just loved hearing Drowning Pool that early on their Saturday). It was pretty entertaining, though!
The sunrise was so gorgeous and orange that morning, it’s totally different light at dawn in comparison with dusk. And there was definitely a little hint of fall in the morning air (just a little hint, it still hit over 100 degrees later that day). We laughed and talked about all the plans for their upcoming wedding in December, which we know is just going to be so much fun – we just love the type of intimate backyard wedding they have planned.
Here are just a few of our favorites from their highway 74 engagement session at sunrise! Enjoy!!
[…] to be there. We have looked forward to this wedding for months, especially after shooting their sunrise engagement session earlier this fall and we are so thrilled to be sharing this final wedding of the year on the blog […]
