There’s something so fun about doing big family sessions, especially around the holidays. It’s so hard to always get everyone in one place at the same time, especially when kids are involved – and so when Jessica asked for me to hang out with her whole family just after Thanksgiving, I knew it would be a really special opportunity for us.

We met up on a beautifully warm fall day – originally we had scheduled their session for earlier in November but the day we were originally planned on was the one day in November when it didn’t even hit 40 degrees during the day. Knowing they had a little guy coming, we decided it would be better to reschedule for a more temperate day and boy am I glad we waited!

This is my first fall in Georgia and I had no idea that the colors of autumn would last so long, nor did I think they came this late in the season. In Colorado, we would see fall foliage for about 10-14 days at the tale end of September and that’s it; by the time this time of year would roll around, everything would be brown and dead. So you can imagine my surprise to see all the golds, oranges, reds, yellows and greens of autumn around Thanksgiving (and even now in mid December, it’s even more glorious outside, if that’s even possible).

I met up with Jessica and her whole family at her parents house on the west side of Kingsland, and we watched a little bit of the LSU vs Alabama game (Roll Tide!!) before heading out to this amazing little dock out on the St Mary’s River. We laughed and played, looked for alligators (didn’t see any) and my new buddy, Jake, who totally took over as ‘art director’ for our shoot.

I feel so blessed to be able to take Kingsland family photos, serving families like Jessica’s! Thank you again for inviting me to spend the afternoon with y’all, and I can’t wait to do it again!
