This past weekend, we took the kids down to our best friend’s house and literally had the best Halloween in the OC, like, ever.
You’ll have to excuse the quality of these photos … I had every intention of using the Big Camera to get photos but honestly, sometimes I just want to take a quick snapshot of the kids in their costumes and not worry about changing the images from RAW to JPG’s, or post-production, or anything like that. So these were all shot with my needs-to-be-replaced iPhone camera! March (when my contract is up) cannot come fast enough!!!
Randy and I coordinated our costumes for the first time ever, too … bahaha! Introducing Mr + Mrs Lederhosen! We had a teenagers ask Randy if he was some sort of “Irish Peter Pan” to which, well, we simply had no response except to say kids these days!!?
We went to this awesome little neighborhood in Aliso Viejo – and I must have said, “Where was this ‘hood at when I was a kid!??” about a hundred times. It was totally the most awesome neighborhood ever – the iconic kind, where neighbors know each other’s names and would “Boo” each other with candy in the days leading up to Halloween, and where about a fifth of the houses were handing out Jell-O shots, rum-soaked gummy bears and Witches Brew to the adults.
Confession: These were my first Jell-O shots. Ever. I totally see why everyone loves them, now!
We walked around for about two hours, and a lot of the houses were handing out full-size candy bars or literal FISTfuls of candy. The kids made out like bandits!
I’m not sure what the heck we’re going to do with all of this candy … that picture of Noah? That’s only one kids candy. Now times that by FOUR and you see the cavities coming amount we’ve got stashed in our house!
Someone told us about the Switch Witch, which is a distant-cousin of the Elf on a Shelf. Basically the Switch Witch will come in the middle of the night and will switch all the candy in the house for toys, or money, or something equally awesome … but our 13-year-old isn’t buying into that. So now we have roughly 142 pounds of candy that we have to slowly throw away, eat or put in the freezer and hand it out next year (insert that emoji of the monkey covering its eyes, right?!).
How was your Halloween??! Did your kids get anything weird in their bags?! We heard about some kids getting bags of walnuts (what the…?!), but the weirdest thing our kids got were some Cheezits!
Soaked gummy bears?? Yes please 🙂
I love how well your oldest son pulled of the perfect slayer look!
Looks like such a fun night!!
Looks like a fantastic time!!
Love that you guys dressed up too! And yum to that candy!!
