Every day this month we’re trying to do something “Christmas-y” with our kids – it could be something as simple as going to our favorite local donut shop for tasty festive donuts, or watching one of the cheesy made-for-TV movies on Freeform or the Hallmark channels (which, let’s be honest, are amazing). But some of the holiday-centric things we’re doing serve a greater purpose … and we can think of nothing better than donating our time to a great event!

Earlier this week we spent an evening with about 150 families at the Palm Springs Public Library, working for the jolliest man of the season + his beautiful bride: Santa Clause + Mrs. Clause! It was a lot of fun seeing how excited the kids were to see the big guy, and I loved seeing the all of the letters and drawings from the kids!

The kids got to test out Santa + Mrs. Clause’s chairs (and the lighting) for us before they arrived …

And then it was time to meet the big guy!

Our kids presented him with drawings and didn’t ask for anything … they just wanted to give him a hug and wish him a Merry Christmas.

The kids loved getting to spend some time in the library, and even better – they loved getting to meet new friends!

But not just that, it was just a really fun night out together as a family, serving the community. We sang Christmas carols (loudly and off key) on the way there and on the way home, we talked about how much fun it was and how nice it was to volunteer as Santa’s official photographers.

Pretty sure our kids think we’re the coolest parents ever, because we totally know Santa.

A big thank you to the Palm Springs Library for allowing us to come and take photos of the nearly 150 families that came through to see Santa. We had the best time!!!
