Yesterday I took Noah, Sierra and Katelyn (as well as my niece Kalicia and my nephew RJ) to the annual Scarecrow Stroll in downtown St Mary’s and it was SO MUCH FUN. I honestly had no idea how big of an event it was – I thought maybe there’d be a dozen businesses out there handing out candy to maybe a hundred kids or so. I didn’t even take my ‘big camera’ because I thought we’d be there for maybe half an hour and that’d be it (so yes, all the photos in this blog were taken with my good ol’ iPhone).
Boy was I wrong.
There were dozens and dozens of local Camden County businesses out there, all dressed up with fun Halloween costumes. Everyone had designed their own scarecrows, which were judged by someone – not sure by who and I’m not sure who won, but there were quite a few that were super cute! My favorite was the Sanderson Sisters, because Hocus Pocus is my favorite Halloween movie of all time.
My Halloween nails were a huge hit, too!
The kids LOVED this dog that was dressed up!
Y’all – we spent almost three hours walking up and down the Scarecrow Stroll, seeing lots of familiar faces and friends and enjoying the day out with the kids. The kids came home with more candy than they usually get even going to the nice neighborhoods on Halloween! Luckily, one of the businesses was giving out bags because our dinky little bags that I had them bring didn’t last very long with all the goodies that everyone was handing out.
It’s little things like this that make me so grateful that we moved to Camden County – I absolutely love that we live in a community that does things like the Scarecrow Stroll in downtown St Mary’s and all the other little things that we have experienced since moving here in June. Even better? It’s not snowing. Colorado got their first snowfall and while I miss the mountains, I don’t miss layering for Halloween fun! Haha!
