This past weekend the family and I took a trip to Seven Falls, located here in Colorado Springs. It is absolutely gorgeous up there right now! It was our first time up there, and definitely not the last. Even with the 200+ steps going up the side of the falls, it was totally worth it. All four of my kids had an absolute blast, listening to the river and falls, watching out for birds, squirrels and bears (no, we didn’t see any bears!). The trails were easy enough for my two year old to walk on them, and my eight (almost nine) year old loved being able to explore. My girls loved looking at all the beautiful scenery – the trees, the flowers, the changing leaves. We got to talk about autumn, why the leaves change colors, all the different colors we saw – it was a great learning experience, on top of everything else.We didn’t get to Helen Hunt Jackson’s memorial and falls because we got there kind of late in the day, but we did check out Midnight Falls and it was really awesome
You can read more about Seven Falls here. The cost to get in is $9.25 per adult, $5.75 for kids (age 6-15), and free for children 5 and younger. The park is open Monday through Thursday from 9-5:15pm, and Friday and Sunday from 9-9:30pm. The trails close at dusk, so make sure you get there earlier in the day to really take advantage of the area!
