Joe and Arleen’s St Mary’s waterfront engagement session was my very last photo shoot of 2019, and my very first time shooting a couple in downtown St Mary’s! And let me tell you: it was incredible!

Ever since I moved to Camden County last summer, I’d been dreaming of this shoot – of walking around with a freshly engaged couple, hand in hand, excitedly talking about their big plans and dreams and hopes for the future. I dreamed about walking on the pier and framing them around the beautiful fountain in the park with the tall palm trees surrounding them. And with this session? All those dreams came true!

Joe and Arleen are high school sweethearts (they met through Arleen’s cousin), together for over three years now and they’ve been through a lot. Senior year, graduation, Joe’s enlistment into the US Marine Corps and his move across the country from their hometown in Southern California. Yet, through all the hardships – their love has overcome it all and now they’re here, planning their wedding for later this year that’ll be back home!

Just this past August, Arleen and her family visited Joe here in Georgia and that was when Joe surprised her with an engagement ring. They had gone up to Savannah for the day and everyone knew Joe was going to pop the question when they got there except for Arleen. She said everyone was being so weird that day, then Joe pulled her aside to take her picture in front of a big boat facing it. But once she turned around, he was on his knee! And best yet, her whole family was there to witness and celebrate with them.

How freaking cute is that?!
