I cannot believe what a wonderful turnout we had for The Beautiful You Campaign Fundraiser that we hosted January 30th to February 4th … We had 15 amazing women come out to help raise awareness and donations benefitting TESSA, a local domestic violence center here in Colorado Springs (you can get more info about TESSA here!). Together, we raised an astounding ::: $1,005 :::: to donate directly to TESSA, and I know this money will make a difference in the lives of domestic violence victims here in the Springs. AMAZING you guys – utterly amazing! And, honestly, the best part about this whole experience was this: I had a client actually email me to thank me for bringing awareness of TESSA’s service, because her friend is in an abusive relationship and didn’t know where to go for help and directly because of this event, my client knew where to tell her to go. Even if we didn’t raise a single dollar, the knowledge we helped someone made all the hard work, time and effort worth it.
Almost every single woman who came in had an amazing story to share with me – about themselves, about their friends or family … all relating to overcoming domestic violence and no longer being victimized. It takes such courage and strength to overcome domestic violence, as an adult and especially as a child, and for them to come and share their experiences was just overwhelmingly touching. I was honored to hear their stories, to hug them and to watch them get their groove on in the studio. And that was the other amazing part – we had SUCH a wide variety of women come in – all shapes and sizes and ages. I loved every minute spent with these amazing women.
So once again, let me take the opportunity to thank everyone who participated and donated. We even received a donation all the way from Afghanistan! So thank you, thank you, thank you.
