Last night was sort of a big freakin’ deal, guys.
A few weeks ago, our friend Meghan with Two Bright Lights called us to chat about some really exciting things coming up for our favorite publication platform, our experience using their system and she invited us to come be panelists at an upcoming event in San Diego with TBL and The Knot Pro Network. Ummmmm – what?! Heck yeah!! We were totally honored to be asked out of the hundreds of photographers available to go and speak to our peers!
Forgive these cell phone photo selfies, these were taken after we put our official camera away!! 🙂 Yes, I desperately need a new cell phone with a better camera! 🙂
^^ This is us with Hillary Boyd, our downright AMAZING rep from the Knot, who we just absolutely love + who always takes care of us! ^^
^^ This is us with Meghan Brown, our new bestie who is one of the editors for Two Bright Lights! ^^
Together with our new friend Derek Chad, we got to talk about our experiences using Two Bright Lights to get our weddings and sessions published and the profound effect it’s had on our business. We told the story about how when we first moved to California and we got to do this amazing engagement session for Lou + Chris, and how we submitted their session for publication with every same-sex friendly blog we could find … and how every single one picked them up! What’s even more amazing is that about six months after their session, we were contacted by a TV producer looking to cast a new and upcoming TV show … and long story short, Lou + Chris had their wedding journey documented on TV and we were able to make our national debut!!
And it was all thanks to Two Bright Lights!
It was Randy’s first time ever speaking as part of our business, and I was so, so proud of him. He did so great, fielding questions from our peers and encouraging people to get started on getting published. YES!!
After the Two Bright Lights boot camp, the party transitioned into a mixer for The Knot Pro Network – which had some of San Diego’s BEST vendors in attendance. We got to meet some fantastic wedding planners, florists, makeup artists, bakeries and of course, fellow photographers. Everything was so beautifully designed, and the food from Coasterra was out of this world amazing (especially the little mushroom appetizers, no idea what they were but we chased the waiters down who had them – SO delicious!). And the treats from Susie Cake’s were outstanding, too! In fact, we’ll be making a trip to their shop for blueberry cakes when we’re back in San Diego in a couple of weeks for some weddings!!! WOO HOO!
Before the party started, we snuck in a few shots of the details and stuff before putting our camera away to mix and mingle with our new friends!
