When Mallorie first reached out to me about photographing her wedding with Cody coming up later this summer in South Fork, I immediately loved everything they had planned. They’re having a fun, low key, joyful day at their cabin that has been in the family for over forty years, in a beautiful small town in southern Colorado, with some DIY and handmade details and s’mores and BBQ.
Sign. Me. Up!
But what I loved even more than what they have envisioned for their summer Colorado wedding is their relationship. They met online (you know, the good ol’ fashioned way) and immediately knew that they had met someone special. Mallorie put it best when she said, “it just always seemed obvious that we were always going to be together.” When she told me that, I immediately thought “man, these two are just like Randy + I when we first met!!”
Cody + Mallorie drove all the way up from Arizona for their shoot (and to go visit some local microbreweries afterward), and we had a beautiful afternoon together. We talked about all of their wedding plans and their love story, shared our love of dogs and beers, and basically spent the whole time laughing and giggling and just having the best time ever.
We got to hang out a few days ago for their urban alleyway engagement session in downtown Colorado Springs and this is definitely one of my favorite little not-so-secret spots here in town. I love the older architecture and the urban vibe, and it’s quiet and a little secluded! There’s so much texture available in urban settings, so its nice to be able to photograph sometimes! We even lucked out with some warm temps that day (because, you know, Colorado can’t decide if it’s winter or spring quite yet).
I’m so excited to see Cody + Mallorie on the blog today and can NOT wait for their wedding in South Fork later this summer!
