Reader beware: this one is a bit of a tearjerker. You see, Danielle reached out to me a few days before her husband, 1LT Derek Davis came home to Fort Carson, Colorado from his tour of duty overseas. I was absolutely honored to be there to document it, not only to watch 5 year old Grace see her daddy again, but it was also Derek’s first time meeting 5-month-old Bryce! It was pretty emotional to be there – Grace was so stoic, so excited … and when she spotted her daddy standing in the very front row, right in front of us – it took everything in her not to run out there before that “Dismissed!” order was given. But once it was … well … you’ll see. Insert ugly cry here. <3
