I’ll be completely vulnerable and honest here – it’s always a little daunting when another photographer asks for us to take their photos. Especially when it’s someone you’ve followed on social media, and interacted with for awhile but hadn’t had the chance to meet in person yet! So when Lisa reached out a few months ago and asked me to come out to Castle Rock to shoot her Columbine Open Space family photo session this fall, I got so excited (and just a tad little bit nervous). We spent the afternoon walking around the cool brick red barn, surrounded by just the teeniest remainders of autumn color in the surrounding trees, getting to know each other even more than we did from being Instagram friends!
Lisa brought her husband, Chris, along with their three boys: Makai, Tanner and Jameson! Let me tell you something, these three boys are absolutely incredible. Wonderfully kind, so smart and passionate about sports and school and life – Lisa and Chris are raising three amazing young men! Raising teens and tweens is not for the faint of heart (as Randy + I are very well aware of, haha) – but Chris and Lisa are really doing a great job at raising great human beings!
And Lisa and Chris? Oh my gosh, you guys. Even after two decades together, these two still act like giggly, deep in love high school sweethearts. I love nothing more than when someone can pull the “nose crinkle laugh” out of their spouse – and Chris is a pro at it even without a whole lot of prompting from me!
At the end of our Columbine Open Space family photo session together, Lisa busted out some adorable winter beanies! I can’t wait to see their annual Christmas cards this year, using these photos! So absolutely adorable!!
