After our day adventure to Chicago, we got to spend that afternoon with Eddie and Stephanie for their engagement session. It was almost something like destiny, when Stephanie first reached out to us about documenting their summer 2018 wedding. They were looking for a Colorado Springs wedding photographer and came across us, and when she reached out and we started talking about engagement sessions – we realized that they are from Chicago! And that we’d be there in the fall! And we could totally do their engagement session while we were in town! They took us to Lincoln Park Zoo for their engagement session, and it was so beautiful. It was a short walk from the shores of Lake Michigan, filled with lush greens and a lilypad pond and a beautiful river lined with weeping willows. Randy + I had no idea that Chicago was so lush, and we’re both so grateful to Eddie + Stephanie for showing us this awesome location.

They met four years ago, as so many couples these days do – online, through Match.com! After a month or so going back and forth online, they finally decided to meet in person at Navy Pier for dinner at Sweetwater Tavern. Stephanie knew right off the bat that Eddie was something special – handsome and smart, kind and generous; she said he took her completely off guard! At the end of their first date, she kissed him! Not too long after that, Eddie asked her to officially be his girlfriend and it was at that moment that she realized he was the One!

While we were walking around for their Lincoln Park Zoo engagement session, a helicopter flew overhead and Eddie stopped, pointed it out and said, “that’s the helicopter I proposed to her on!” You see, Eddie proposed in a helicopter over Wrigley Field; everyone from the helicopter pilot to all their friends and family were in on the secret! After their flight and the proposal, Eddie surprised Stephanie with an engagement party with everyone they loved; it sounded absolutely perfect!!

We had so much fun hanging out with the two of them, plus their 7-year-old Yorkie Jacob (who will also be part of the wedding!), and I can’t wait to spend the day with them for their wedding here in Colorado Springs next summer!
