A Family Story | Meet Jake, Kantessa + Olivia

Created by Ali Coşkunfrom the Noun Project

You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete,
And as long as there’s a breath in me, I’ll make yours just as sweet.
As we look into the future, it’s as far as we can see,
So let’s make each tomorrow be the best that it can be.

Jake and Kantessa are a wonderful couple, from a soldier from Louisiana and a social worker from South Dakota – and they have a beautiful 7-month-old daughter, Olivia … and together, they make the sweetest little family! They love to go dancing, go for hikes and yep, love to hunt – which is funny, since they actually originally met at the gun corner of Walmart! And their first date was very country – a BBQ, staring at the stars in the bed of Jake’s truck, and dancing to George Strait.

And when Jake asked Kantessa to marry him? A totally unique proposal! In Kantessa’s own words, “We were shopping in Denver at bass pro shops it was my birthday in a few days so he picked out this beautiful Rhinestone camo wallet we get out to the truck and he says here you go babe… Well I’m so excited for this wallet I open it up super fast and to me it looked like the security tag fell out ( jakes on his hand and knees and all of a sudden he gets on 1 knee tells me how much he loves me and proposes!! I cried I love this man with my whole heart!! And it was perfect proposal!”

I have to admit, I’m a little jealous of their next adventure – next week (!!!) they are moving to Alaska, and they are also planning their small July wedding, in North Pole, Alaska. I’ve always wanted to go to Alaska, so now I get to stalk Tess’s Facebook page and look for new pictures from their Alaskan adventure! They have big plans for the future, including having a big family, Jake is going to warrant officer school for the Army, and Tess is getting ready to graduate with her Bachelor’s degree in psychology. And once Jake’s out of the Army in a few years, they’ll be moving to Jake’s home state of Louisiana!

Tess’s grandparents were in town visiting, on their way home to South Dakota from a trip to Texas – and they jumped in for a few photos! They are an AMAZING couple, they celebrated 44 YEARS of wedded bliss this year! How amazing and inspiring is that?? They just adore little Olivia, too – but seriously, with a smile like that – how can you not just fall in love with her??
