Our super busy and wild month of autumn sessions continues! I can’t believe how busy the last few weeks have been, I’m so excited to be sharing even more sessions over the next couple of weeks here on our blog!
Just a few days before the first snowfall of the season (and before all of the gorgeous foliage fell off the trees), we lucked out with some more amazing weather up in the mountains just west of Colorado Springs, in the small town of Divide. I spent a beautiful afternoon with Ben and Jordan for their autumn mountain engagement session and it was absolutely incredible! I had so much fun just hanging out with them for the afternoon, just talking and joking and looking for wildlife; which, we lucked out with! We came across a flock of wild turkeys and a beautiful young buck, who came probably within 10-15 feet of us. Absolutely magical!
Ben and Jordan are getting married next year, after having met a couple of years ago at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. When they told me that’s where they met, I felt the world got just a bit smaller! Decorah is a small little town, and it is where I photographed my very first wedding nearly 7 years ago! Anyway, about a year into their relationship, Ben started saving up for an engagement ring for Jordan but it wasn’t until their fifth anniversary that he proposed. He took Jordan to the Great Lakes (one lake for each year of dating, haha!) and he pulled this whole elaborate charade on a morning walk. He had hidden the ring in the battery compartment of his camera, and after pretending to take a picture and have Jordan take a look at the camera, she turned around to find Ben on one knee!
And now, here we are! We had so much fun together at their autumn engagement session and I can’t wait for their mountain wedding!
