Colorado Springs offers some of the most amazing landscapes and backdrops for sessions, and one of our favorite spots for us this year is Palmer Park. And of course, anyone who has spent any amount of time here in Colorado knows that weather is notoriously fickle. We recently hung out with Chad and Hannah for their cloudy Colorado Springs engagement photos at Palmer Park – and it was amaaazing!
These two have the most romantic “how we met” story, definitely one of our favorites we have ever heard. Hannah told us all about:
We both applied to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and as occupancy was full I was deferred to their second location in Washington State for 1.5 years. As sister schools who have identical programming my roommate and his roommate had gone on study abroad together, met, and started dating their freshman year. Her boyfriend came and visited in Washington State after after meeting me for 5 minutes said “I know who you’re going to marry, my friend Chad.” Months go by and as our roommates were Facetiming they both handed the phones to Chad and I. So there over FaceTime 300 miles from each other having our roommates date we met. Chad gasped and I thought something was wrong, and he still jokes “I took his breath away,” but from there we hit it off. It started with saying hi every time our roommates face-timed, to facebook messaging, to texting, to calling. We can honestly say over the 6 months we talked we became best friends- it wasn’t necessarily romantic because I had never even seen Chad or met him for that matter, but I knew he was someone I wanted in my life for the rest of it. We got to know each other from an honest and pure standpoint, with no physical aspect. He was my best friend and that person I couldn’t imagine doing life without at that point. Then during a Facetime session we had I told Chad I had some big news, I would be transferring in 1 week to the Chicago campus, meet him for the first time, and then go to school with him in one single week! He asked why I never told him before and I said because I didn’t want him to only like me because he thought he had a chance. He then went to say he also had news, he was moving to Israel next semester. I asked why he never told me and he said so I wouldn’t stop talking to him because he’ll be gone. So I flew home, took and over night train to Chicago to meet Chad for the first time in a 3 day span we had to meet before our lives took us in very different places. That semester was the hardest imaginable without him. I wrote him a letter everyday (yes very The Notebook of me) and we made it work. Through being the new transfer student with an “imaginary boyfriend” that was very unofficially and I had only know for 3 days, and me being a mystery girl everyone in Israel was sick of hear about it was all worth the wait. Then eventually 6 months later there was no question that each other was worth waiting for. We started dating about 2 days after he flew back to America.
Super romantic, right?!? Being around these two just cements in our firm belief in soul mates and destiny.
We can’t wait to hang out again with these two again for their wedding here in Colorado Springs next year!!
