Comic Book Chic Engagement Session
It all started with friendship. Jess + Dave played in different bands – Jess on guitar, Dave on drums – and their respective bands would end up jamming together from time to time. Eventually jamming together in separate bands led to forming their own band together, and soon after that – a relationship began.
Jess told us that they realized that each other was The One pretty quickly. On their first date they were “adorably nervous” and spent hours talking at a restaurant, “too giddy and shy to look each other in the eye.” Their first date reminded us of our first date (we fell quickly in love, and spent hours talking our first night at a restaurant, too!).
After their first kiss at the end of their first date, they both just knew. Jess said that Dave was just sitting there with this look, like he just had the most important epiphany of his whole life, like suddenly the world stopped and everything made sense. After staring for a moment in awe and disbelief, he said,
“That’s it. I found you.“
And from there – it’s been one adventure after another. We met with them at a local coffeehouse in Palm Springs a couple of months ago, and just like their first date – we spent hours just laughing, talking and getting to know each other. They’re big into comic books (and are even in the early stages of opening up a ‘comic book chic’ home decor business, which we’re super jazzed about!), and have this amazingly playful zest for love and life in general. They are totally our jam. <3
We shot their engagement session in a couple spots just a few days ago, including our favorite local coffeehouse (which is sadly closing its doors in less than a month), and a gorgeous preserve nearby. They brought some of their favorite comic books, and their DIY comic book flowers – a little peek of the flowers they’ll actually be having for their wedding!!!
We are so excited for their wedding in just a couple of months, they have some of the raddest ideas for their backyard DIY shindig that we can’t wait to share with you guys!
Until then, we’ll leave you with a quote from Dave’s favorite movie (Back to the Future II, which is high on Ash’s list too!):
“Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one. Both of you!“
– Doc Brown
[…] months carefully handcrafting a ton of DIY details. We got a sneak peak of the bouquets at their engagement session a couple of months ago, and so we knew we were in for a treat when it came time for their big day! […]
