This past weekend not only had the amazing vintage carnival wedding, but, we also got to celebrate with our lovely friends Devon and Carl for their convalidation ceremony at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Yorba Linda!

What is a convalidation ceremony? Well, it is essentially making the marriage valid in the eyes of the Catholic church (you can read more about it in this article). You see, Devon and Carl got married just a few months ago and that was when we first met them, when we shot their dress rehearsal out in Palm Desert. We loved being part of their rehearsal dinner, and were so thrilled and honored when they asked us to be part of their convalidation ceremony!

Devon definitely set the bar when it comes to planning an amazing event, we absolutely loved the fun atmosphere that she (and Carl) designed for their convalidation reception dinner at the Five Crowns Restaurant in Corona Del Mar. All of the Scrabble place settings were carefully handcrafted by Devon, as well as all of the adorable signage, the fun game stations set up for connect four and backgammon and the Jenga seating chart that also turned into a date night game keepsake; seriously, every detail was just absolutely perfect and beautifully designed. Their closest friends and family had an absolute blast playing games, listening to great music, eating delicious food and celebrating what everyone affectionately refers to as “Team Carl and Devon.”

Our favorite detail was the S’mores Bar though – with all kinds of different chocolates and marshmallow flavors (the birthday cake one was SO yummy!). And, anytime someone uses a quote from one of our favorite childhood movies (The Sandlot) on a super cute sign? We loved it, absolutely loved it. #killinmesmalls

Not to mention, the delicious prime rib dinner created by the chef at Five Crowns!! Luckily it was also Ashley’s birthday, so we really were spoiled by Devon and Carl! Thank you again, guys, for asking us to be part of something so special to your family, we just love you!
