Just about a week ago, Randy and I drove out to Nevada for Ben + Senta’s Las Vegas rooftop wedding. Randy took the WAY long way … in case you don’t know, there’s a ‘back way’ to Vegas that goes through the middle of nowhere desert and we totally missed the turn-off. What should have been a 3 or so hour drive ended up being closer to 5 and a half. I was so excited to finally see the huge hotels in the distance after being in the car for so long!!
Ben and Senta’s wedding was scheduled for late in the afternoon at the Platinum Hotel right near the infamous Las Vegas strip, and was a very private, intimate affair. There were only about 20 or so people in attendance, with everyone flying in from all over the country to witness their big day. When I asked Senta why they chose to get married in Vegas, despite the fact most everyone lives in North Dakota, Senta told me how when she was active duty Air Force, they would often meet in Vegas because it was often (they have spent almost half of their 5 year relationship away from each other due to her service in the military). Everyone who came had such a great time, despite the storm that rolled in (which caused a lot of wind, especially being on the rooftop, seventeen stories up!). After the ceremony, everyone went inside for some appetizers and cupcakes before heading out on the town for a night of karaoke and Vegas fun!
