Ever since their engagement session earlier this year, Randy + I have looked forward to Chris and Ali’s Mining Exchange hotel wedding. Actually, truth be told, we’ve been wanting to photograph a wedding at the Mining Exchange since we first moved to Colorado Springs in 2011! It’s such a beautiful and iconic hotel here in the Springs, so full of history, which is one of the reasons Chris and Ali decided to have their wedding here. Ali, a budding photographer, has actually been mentoring with me the last 6 months or so, coming with me to weddings and shooting – so it was wonderful to have her back in front of my camera, and celebrating such a special day with our friends!
One of the most special moments of their wedding day was when Ali did a first look with both her father and brother, and they presented her with one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever seen a bride receive on her wedding day. Custom created using 47 diamonds in all, designed into a cosmic-inspired piece of jewelry for Ali to wear on her wedding day. It was a gift from her brother Roby and her father, but ultimately a gift from Ali’s mother who passed away in 2010. It was such a beautiful gift, and something I know Ali will treasure forever.
Their alleyway ceremony was led by Chris’s father, who delivered a beautiful ceremony. Following their ceremony, everyone went upstairs to the brick walled ballroom of the Mining Exchange, for dancing and good food (including a whole table full of donuts from Colorado Springs’ favorite donut shop, Amy’s Donuts! We even got to go to the rooftop for a little bit, for some fun nighttime photos with the glittering lights of downtown behind us!
