This past Saturday, we took the kids to the Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade in downtown Palm Springs. It was SO MUCH FUN! It was a lovely 65 degrees outside (which, coming from people who lived in North Dakota and Colorado for the last few years is pretty much the warmest Christmas parade we’ve ever been to!)! Downtown Palm Springs was packed with thousands of people, lined up and down to see the floats, marching bands, dancers and big balloons!
One of the best parts of the parade was when the Grand Marshall came rolling down the parade … and the guy in the back jumped up, and stood on the back to the car! We were all wondering who the heck would be crazy enough to do something like that, and sure enough … it was pro skateboarder Tony Hawk!! All the kids in our section started totally going wild, and Danny looks over at us and goes “man, I should have worn my Hawk sweatshirt! Perfectly missed opportunity!” – haha! It was definitely pretty cool to see him up there, and then see the dozens of skateboarders behind him.
Next year we know to bring a blanket (to sit on, it really wasn’t that cold!), coffee and to get there with more than 15 minutes to the start of the parade. We were able to score really good seats, but, the parking was pretty intense. We walked about half a mile from the hospital just to park!
We had a great time though, for sure. We loved all the music and the lights were fantastic, it was a great way to kick off the holiday season! Here are just a few of our favorite pictures from the parade!
How cute is that!
