Want to know a little secret? I absolutely love photographing engagement sessions at sunrise. It’s such a beautiful time of the day – the air is crisp, the light is typically super golden and the best part? No one is around. All of the popular spots are quiet and there’s no one around that I have to photoshop out. It definitely calls for some early days (especially in the summer!) but let me tell ya: it’s absolutely worth it that early alarm!
I met up with Bud and Katy for their sunrise engagement session at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs just a couple of days before their friends wedding. These two drove up from Fort Worth, Texas for Patrick and Maranda’s wedding (which I’ll be blogging soon!) and we hiked all over Garden of the Gods for their engagement session. It was SO much fun!! I had a blast hanging out with these two!
They met at a going away party for a friend, and for both of them, they instantly knew each other was going to be someone special. In fact, when I asked them, both Bud and Katy said, “pretty much for me it was immediately!” that they realized. And when it came time to propose this past summer, Bud decided to propose to Katy on his birthday while they were camping and floating the Comal River (which I can’t wait to check out this summer when we move to Texas!).
