Have you ever gone to a brand new place, somewhere you’ve always heard about but never actually visited … and when you got there, you thought “this can’t be real life?” That was us this past weekend in Telluride. The entire drive there was so gorgeous, with snowcapped mountains in the distance and way-too-warm-for-December temperatures, Telluride is one of the most surreal and gorgeous places on earth. We arrived just after lunchtime and after a quick bite to eat, we met up with Nathan and Samantha for their Telluride engagement session and let me tell you guys: it. was. incredible.
We’ve spent the last few months in a long-distance relationship with these two, since they were flying in from Michigan for their destination wedding in Telluride. We got the opportunity to do their Telluride engagement session the day before their absolutely amazing wedding – we rode a gondola, we hiked, we laughed and we shared stories … it was the perfect way to kick off their wedding weekend!! And the views from the mountaintops of Telluride are some of the most beautiful ones we’ve ever seen! The only thing that could have made everything even more perfect would have been if there had been some more snow on the ground.
These two high school sweethearts have been together since their senior year, surviving college apart and a long-distance relationship. After six years together, Nate pulled off the best surprise proposal – they had just moved in to their first home together, and he tied a beautiful ring that he had personally designed months before on the collar of their 2-year-old black lab, Charlie. The collar was engraved with “Will you marry my Dad?” and of course, Sam said yes and here we are! Their Telluride engagement session totally got us excited for their wedding the next day, which we can’t wait to share with you guys in the New Year!
