Earlier this year, when Ashley and I were first chatting about the possibility of us shooting her 2016 wedding to Cody in Camarillo – I think we talked on the phone for over two hours. We just had this awesome connection, and it felt like we had known each other for years. Ever since then, I have been looking forward to finally meeting them both in person for their engagement session! Since their wedding is at this gorgeous country club, we decided to be a bit more casual with their engagement session and have this completely different type of setting … and what better place than Pioneertown, in the high desert near Joshua Tree?

We split their Pioneertown desert engagement session into two parts – first in the Old West town itself, and then we drove a little distance and took advantage of the gorgeous desert landscape with the giant rocks and cacti. We just spent the whole time laughing, and talking about our tattoos and their upcoming wedding plans (which include wearing red Converse shoes!). After their session, I posted a couple peeks on Instagram and Facebook and we found out that we actually have mutual friends that we didn’t realize before (a friend of mine from high school as well as a long-time client/friend who I knew from Colorado)! The world is just super small and I swear it gets smaller every day!

And can we take a sec to talk about how gorgeous and unique Ashley’s sapphire and diamond Robbins Brothers engagement band is?? Soooo gorgeous!
