6 Things You Need For Planning An Unforgettable Lakeside Honeymoon

There are several options when it comes to organizing a honeymoon. But if you’re looking for a romantic getaway that’s truly unforgettable, a lakeside honeymoon is the way to go. And Wisconsin has tons of incredible lakes to honeymoon at! From stunning scenery to intimate moments and fun activities like boating and fishing, a lakeside honeymoon has it all. But there are a few things you need to take care of first before you start packing your bags. Here are 6 things you need for planning an unforgettable lakeside honeymoon.

Swimwear Is Going to be Important

When you’re packing for your lakeside honeymoon, swimwear is going to be key. Whether you’re planning on spending your days lounging by the water or exploring all the nearby attractions, you’ll need a few swimsuits.

And since this is your honeymoon, don’t be afraid to pack a few sexy options. After all, you’ll want to look and feel your best for your new spouse. The swimwear experts at Swimoutlet.com recommend packing a mix of bikinis, one-pieces, and cover-ups so you’ll be prepared for anything. Plenty of my brides have even picked up some cute white bathing suits to wear!

Your Documents

You will need your passports if you’re going out of the country, of course, as well as your driver’s license and proof of auto insurance if you plan to rent a car. Your birth certificates may also come in handy. If you have been married before, you will need divorce papers or death certificates for previous spouses. Be sure to make copies of all important documents in case you lose them while on your trip!

Your Favorite Cosmetic Items

While you probably won’t be doing much makeup on your honeymoon, there are still a few cosmetic items you’ll want to pack. Your sunscreen, of course, is essential for protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Lip balm is another must-have, especially if you plan on spending time in the sun, whether you’re honeymooning during the summer or the winter. I personally love to use Beekman 1802 products for my skin – especially their sunscreen!

And don’t forget about your favorite perfume or cologne; you’ll want to smell nice for your new spouse.

What To Pack For Activities

If you plan on doing any hiking or other outdoor activities, be sure to pack the proper clothing and gear. Depending on the time of year, you may need a jacket, hat, and gloves for honeymoons in Wisconsin. I definitely recommend bringing layers for all temperatures, even in the summer; Wisconsin summer nights can get quite chilly for people who aren’t from around here

If you plan to do any exploring in places like Devil’s Lake, hiking boots that you’ve worn in already are a must, and you’ll also want to pack a first-aid kit in case of any minor injuries. And if you plan on doing any fishing, don’t forget to pack your tackle box and fishing poles!

Locally here in Lake Geneva, you can rent all of the necessary items for boating like life preservers – so don’t worry about bringing stuff like that! You should check out local websites, like our own Visit Lake Geneva website, to see if there are any local activities such as festivals going on during your honeymoon!

Your Camera

Now, this recommendation shouldn’t come to you as a surprise considering I’m a photographer, haha! Of course, you’ll want to document your honeymoon with plenty of photos. Whether you’re using a digital camera or your smartphone, be sure to bring along extra batteries, memory cards and portable chargers

And if you’re planning on doing any video recording for fun memories like reels and home videos, don’t forget your tripod or a selfie stick. Nothing ruins a romantic moment like shaky footage or a blurry photo – trust me!

An Emergency Bag

No matter where you’re going or what you’re doing, it’s always a good idea to pack an emergency bag. This should include essentials like a first-aid kit with any important medications you might need, a flashlight, and a map of the local area in case you lose cell phone coverage. You’ll also want to include some cash (both American and local currency) in case of an emergency. I’d also toss in a light sweatshirt and some extra shoes, just in case you get cold or wet.

And if you’re traveling overseas, be sure to bring along your passport and other important documents. These are just a few of the things you need to take care of before planning your lakeside honeymoon. With a little bit of planning, you can ensure that your trip is truly unforgettable.

When planning your lakeside honeymoon in Wisconsin there are a few key things to remember such as bringing proper swimwear, your documents, and your favorite cosmetics. Additionally, depending on the activities you have planned, be sure to pack accordingly and don’t forget your charger!
