Big Dreams

Created by Ali Coşkunfrom the Noun Project

Lately, I’ve been dreaming about BIG things … it is things that are still far off, but it’s not impossible. Nothing is impossible, right?

I look up to two major boudoir photographers – The Boudoir Vixen (in Baton Rouge, LA) and The Boudoir Divas (in San Diego, CA). Courtney (of the Boudoir Vixen) is so amazing, and I really wish she offered mentoring workshops because I’d fly to Louisiana in a heartbeat, and soak every ounce of her awesomeness, intelligence and talent into my brain as much as humanly possible. Kimberlee and Marissa (of the Boudoir Divas) are also wickedly talented and I could learn SO much from them both, and luckily for me – they DO offer mentoring workshops (in 2012 they are even doing one in Paris, how AWESOME would that be??). Not to mention, the Boudoir Divas started out small-time, working out of their garage – and now own and operate San Diego’s biggest and best boudoir studio available. I am seriously debating going to San Diego in January to meet Kimberlee and Marissa so I can pick their brains and really get a feel for a studio environment.

Why? Because that’s dream number one. Opening up a REAL studio. I want to be able to offer my clients a feminine place to come and feel pampered, and made to realize their secret pin-up within (hehe, like how I did that?). Since I only do on-location shoots right now, that is issue #1 for my clients (“my bedroom isn’t sexy enough!”).

I can see the studio in my mind … The decor (French and retro inspired, florals, blacks, grays, whites, hot pinks), the different styled areas for shooting, I can even hear the music playing in the background and smell the perfumes and salon-smells (because yes, I’d have a full-time hair and makeup artist on staff at all times). I want it so bad I can almost taste it.

But, baby steps first. Yesterday, I bought myself a new desk. I know that may seem small and inconsequential, but I bought THE desk I want to sit behind to work on when I’m in my studio. It’s big and has dark wood (my fave) and somewhat vintage looking … and absolutely gorgeous. I am in LOVE with my new desk, and can’t wait for it to get here tomorrow.

So let me say, here and now … having a studio of my own is something I am going to fight tooth and nail for to accomplish. I don’t know when it will happen, but with the encouragement of my family and friends – I know I can make this dream into a reality.
