So here’s one of those crazy “super small world” stories for you today!! When Britta first reached out to us, she told us that she heard about us after seeing her friend Carly’s anniversary photos (check them out!) – and she just fell in love with us and had to have us for her upcoming wedding. But what she didn’t realize, because my name has changed, is that we actually knew each other way back when Britta was in early elementary school! You see – one of her childhood best friends was my neighbor growing up (Christina was essentially like the little sister I always wanted), and I remember hanging out together when I was in middle school and she was in elementary.
So not only did I get to watch her grow up (from afar), now we get to be part of her wedding!
We got to hang out for the first time (as adults, haha!) this past weekend while we were visiting California, and we headed up to Joshua Tree for Chris + Britta’s engagement session. You guys: we are SO excited for their wedding next year at the O’Donnell House, because these two are just the absolute sweetest!! They met through mutual friends at a BBQ in San Francisco (where they both relocated to after college) and immediately, there were sparks. Britta made the first move, asking Chris to take a photo of her with her roommates, simply as an excuse to chat with him. She gave him her number – and within a couple of days they had dinner plans … and they’ve been together ever since!
Chris set up a pretty elaborate proposal this past fall, on a romantic trip to the Philippines and Thailand. It actually happened on my birthday!!! Chris had called the hotel a month in advance, for them to spell out “Marry Me” in flower petals in their room as well as a custom-made cake; they returned to the hotel from a day of shopping and exploring and before the door even closed, Chris was down on one knee to ask Britta to be his wife.
