Happy Wedding Wednesday, guys!!

With engagement season fully upon us, and our calendar filling up with freshly-minted fiancé’s … we thought today would be a great time to talk about how to get fantastic engagement photos with us!

Engagement sessions are so important to the entire wedding process, because it not only gives us the opportunity to hang out with you guys (which we LOVE to do!), but it gives us a chance to see how you interact with each other in front of the camera. It also is a lot of fun to have fantastic engagement photos to use on social media as well as your save the dates (if you haven’t already sent them out!).

Kiss with your eyes closed!

There’s nothing more romantic than a in-the-moment kiss between two people passionately in love … But, when you kiss with your eyes open, you don’t look like you’re in the moment. It looks like you’re thinking about taxes, which is anything but romantic. So keep those eyes closed!

tips for engagement sessions

Coordinate, but don’t match.

Make sure the styles are cohesive but aren’t the exact same. Each of you should have a distinct style, but make sure it goes together (i.e. if one of you is wearing pastels, the other one should not be wearing neon).

And just in case you’re totally lost on what to wear … we’ve put together a WHAT TO WEAR Pinterest board JUST for you!

Bring your save the dates, if you have them!

This is a fun detail shot for your session, and adds a bit of a personal touch!

Get your ring cleaned.

Because we will be shooting it up close!

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Don’t be late!

Don’t think ill of us … we swear, we aren’t crazy time people. But showing up on time ensures that we will get the maximum amount of time to shoot, and since our work relies entirely on light … well, when the sun goes down – that’s it. So factor in traffic (especially here in Southern California, ughhh!) and construction, and outfit changes and everything else that can cause delays.
