Please note: I am located in Phoenix and no longer offer travel outside of Arizona. Thank you!
You know when there are events you’re part of where just thinking about it brings tears of joys to your eyes? That, for me, is Fitzy + Sarah’s Frida Kahlo inspired wedding at Brookview Ranch in Agoura Hills that we photographed last fall. It was a beautiful fall day (that definitely felt more like summer with those triple degree temperatures in California!). I loved every moment of this wedding, as did Randy; Fitzy and Sarah poured their absolute heart and soul into planning this special day that not only was for them, but a celebration with their friends and family. And for us, it was doubly special because their “best gals” were a former couple of ours, Anne + Kelli; it was at their Palm Springs wedding that we actually met them! Fitzy actually told me the night of Anne + Kelli’s wedding that she was going to be proposing to Sarah, so we’ve really been with them on this journey right from the start!
They met at a friends Super Bowl party, and for both of them, they knew it was an incredible connection with each other. When it came time for Fitzy to propose on their 5th anniversary, she pulled out all the stops. She rented a beautiful beach hotel room and put together an assortment of stones, which words that spelled out ‘Will You Marry Me?’ and a larger stone with a cartoon drawing of Fitzy down on one knee, proposing to Sarah. We actually got to see this at the welcome BBQ that they threw at their house the day before the wedding, and it is so amazing. Fitzy is an incredible artist and cartoonist, so it was absolutely fitting for her to incorporate this all together for Sarah.
Their wedding took place at Brookview Ranch, which is in Agoura Hills, near Malibu. They both have a deep love for Frida Kahlo, so they incorporated a lot of that culture into their color palette and wedding design. They even had Dia De Los Muertos statues for their wedding cake! Sarah’s kids, Jackson, Ryan and Sydney, played important rolls throughout the day and it was so obviously clear that this wedding meant as much to them as it did to Sarah + Fitzy! I honestly can’t think of another wedding where I legit choked back sobs during the ceremony!
Fitzy also surprised Sarah at the end of the ceremony, hiring professional singers and musicians to reenact the wedding scene from their favorite movie, Love Actually. Sarah (and all of the guests) was SO surprised, especially when the wedding party started singing “All You Need is Love,” too!!!
