Let’s be completely honest here, we just absolutely adore Brendan + Rocio. From the very first Skype date, we knew we were destined to be friends and have this amazing journey together toward their wedding day when Rocio said, “Gilmore Girls is my favorite show, too!” Ever since that day a few months ago, we’ve stalked followed each other on Instagram and Facebook, sending each other updates about our favorite Stars Hallow friends (including a shared sadness we couldn’t see the panel at ATX earlier this year in June). Rocio’s love of Gilmore Girls is not the only thing we just loved about her – she’s genuinely one of the most kind and fun-to-be-around people we’ve ever met. Her smile is infectious, she’s quick with the verbal wit, and her love for her family is unparalleled.
And Brendan? He is as incredible as his new wife. Brian, the best man, told us all during his speech how Brendan has always been someone that he looks up to and how much respect he has for Brendan because he “saves the world for a living” (which is pretty rad, if you think about it!). But together? Together, these two are unstoppable. We swear, they have this kind of chemistry together that rubs off on anyone in a 12-foot radius, beaming rays of joy and love and this we-have-the-most-amazing-life-ever vibes … and their wedding was a gorgeous culmination of their class, culture, love for each other and love for their family.
Planned by the amazingly talented Emma Seitz of First Pick Planning (and assisted by Sarah Bond), Brendan + Rocio’s O’Donnell House Wedding in Palm Springs this past weekend was a dream come true. With two readings (one from The Amber Spyglass and also Soneto XVII by Pablo Neruda), their mixed-culture sunset ceremony was short yet heartfelt and funny, complete with a lasso ceremony (where their mothers placed a rope lasso around the two of them, to symbolize tying their lives together). It’s not so rare that Ashley gets choked up at weddings, but it is pretty rare for there not to be a single dry eye – which is exactly what happened. Everyone just loved Rocio + Brendan’s heartfelt, handwritten vows.
After their ceremony, everyone gathered for one of the funnest receptions we’ve yet to go to. Everyone was up on the dance floor, singing to DJ Henry Jones of VOX DJ’s mix of Spanish and English tunes. Henry, Rocio’s dad, just couldn’t stop gushing about how happy he was, how joyous this occasion was, and how glad he, Marlene and the entire family is to have Brendan as their new son and brother. And Monica and Reggie, Brendan’s parents, were just as thrilled with how amazing these two are for each other – just beaming from ear to ear the entire day.
And now, less than a week after their O’Donnell House wedding, these two are already on to their next big adventure: moving to Geneva! While we’re super sad they won’t be living close to us anymore, we are so excited for them and everything they are going to get to see and do while in Europe. Congratulations, Brendan + Rocio – we just love you!
