Palm Springs Elopement at the Avalon Hotel

There’s something magical about this time of year … not sure if it’s the chill in the air, the extra decor and general jolliness, or the spirit of love that has taken over, but Christmastime is the best time to elope, and yesterday we celebrated Anny + John’s Palm Springs Elopement! We loved being witness to such a beautiful and intimate event for these two! We actually met with them earlier this year, when they were entertaining the idea of eloping and we just loved them from the start.

Anny + John are two of the kindest, quietly funny people we’ve ever had the opportunity to hang out with. They met in 2002 through mutual friends, but didn’t start dating (long distance) for five years … but they’ve been together ever since, through moves around the west coast and job changes, and through all the craziness: they decided that either their long-distance relationship would work (or it wouldn’t), but they wouldn’t put any pressure on themselves to make it work. And guess what? It worked.

It worked so well, they decided to get married! Which led us to yesterday …

They took a couple of weeks off from work, and came out to Palm Springs to elope. Since they were staying at the beautiful Avalon Hotel in downtown Palm Springs, we decided to take advantage of the gazebo area at sunset and Cathy, with Celebrations of Joy, led a beautifully intimate vow exchange. Anny’s rose gold ring – one of the most beautiful and unique wedding bands we’ve ever seen – was actually made from her grandmother’s diamonds (which really just made it even that much more special and amazing). After their ceremony, we headed to north Palm Springs for some portraits and we lucked out with a gorgeous sunset and no wind!

Now that they’ve made it official, Anny + John will spend the next few days traveling with their best girl, Ginger (their beautiful pit bull puppy), up Pacific Coast Highway. We’re so thrilled and excited for our friends, and wish them many years of love and happiness! Congrats, guys! xoxo
