The Importance of Being a Vendor Ambassador

Created by Ali Coşkunfrom the Noun Project

I am a firm, firm believer in giving credit where credit is due. Randy + I have been so blessed to work with some of the most amazing vendors in Southern California since moving here last year (and with the best in Colorado for the years before then!), and I’ve always made sure to give everyone credit. Sending out images to vendors just makes for good business – I’ve been told by wedding planners that they flat out won’t refer photographers who do not share images with them! We get referrals all the time from vendors we’ve worked with, because we always make sure to take care of them post-wedding. As important as it is to provide excellent service to your clients, it’s also very important to take care of the people who made their best day happen!

Case in point …

A few weeks ago, when Jeff + Jason got hitched at the La Quinta Resort, I blogged about a special part of the ceremony when Jason’s eldest son read a poem by Taylor Mali, and I made sure to link directly to the poem on Taylor’s website because not only did it provide some depth and color to the story of the wedding – it was an important part of the ceremony. Literally just a couple of hours after the blog went live, I received an email from Taylor about my blog – and how he wanted to send Jeff + Jason an autographed copy of the poem! HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT?!? So I went out and framed it for Jeff + Jason as a gift and sent it to them with their post-wedding package … and they LOVED it!

So when you’re thinking about how you can be a better business person – think about being a Vendor Ambassador instead. Think about ways that you can help your fellow vendors succeed; how you can build them up, and help foster an amazing relationship. You never know how one simple act will lead to something amazing!!
