The Last Day | What’s Happenin’ with Ash

Created by Ali Coşkunfrom the Noun Project

This morning I got up pretty groggy – Randy and I went to go see the premiere of the new Fast and the Furious movie (we are HUGE fans of the series) and didn’t get in until nearly 1 in the morning, and then I spent the rest of the evening up with Sierra, who is battling a early summer head cold. It was absolutely worth going to the movies though, the movie was fantastic. If you haven’t seen the trailer for it yet – well here, you’re welcome! For those of you going to see it – make sure to stay to the very end, my “boyfriend” makes a special appearance!

Needless to say, when the kids started bustling around this morning at 6:45 the first thought I had was “please God, coffee.” (Yes, I couldn’t even make full sentences. It’s okay, God understands) … You see, today is the last day of school for my two oldest kiddos. As of 1:01pm today, I will have a 5th grader, a 2nd grader, a kindergartener and a pre-kindergartener.

Excuse me, can someone tell me where the time has gone? I am not sure I’m ready to have a fifth grader. Fifth grade is like … big time! I remember being in fifth grade – starting to like boys, worrying about going to junior high, starting that awkward tween phase. Really not sure I’m ready for that, thankfully my oldest kid – Daniel – is a boy so maybe he’ll have it a little easier than I did. I can’t help but feel I’m entering into uncharted territory with fifth grade in the new school year!

So now I have the daunting task of being a work-at-home mom to four kids on summer vacation between now and the middle of August. All I can do is laugh, it is sure to be interesting – that’s for sure! I won’t be working quite as much this summer, so I can really spend the time with them – before Daniel gets too old and too cool to hang out building forts and eat smores with me.

I tried to get a shot of the kids this morning for a cute First and Last Day of School shot … but Katelyn wasn’t happy with me and Daniel just wanted to goooooo … They got to wear free dress for the last day, so they were super excited about not wearing their uniforms. Sierra is missing from the “Last Day” picture because she was pulled out of kindergarten earlier in the year because she just wasn’t ready for it quite yet. Is it just me or is Daniel turning into a tween? The difference is so apparent to me! Insert sobbing face here …

Oy … wish me luck this summer, ha ha!
