Ashley has known Sharilyn for many years, having been friends since we lived in Colorado and having done several photo shoots with her and her two beautiful kiddos over the years. The last time that Shar came in to the studio to do a boudoir session before we moved, she had this extra bounce in her step, a noticeable twinkle in her eye, and a smile that couldn’t leave her face. And that was when she told us that she’d met someone, and that this guy was somethin’ else. That guy was Jim.
They met, as Sharilyn puts it, “like everyone else does these days – online!” through ChristianMingle.com (yet another reason we love them, since we met each other online before it was cool to do it that way!!). Both of them felt like they had hit the jackpot, finding each other – and they both knew pretty early on that each other was “the One.” Sharilyn jokingly told us we’d be shooting their wedding, before Jim even proposed!
Finally, he proposed in the very spot where they would eventually be married, in the Oval at the beautiful Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins. They had both attended school there together at the same time, even working a couple of doors down from each other – but they never actually met until they had met online. Funny how life works that way, right?!?
Their ceremony was right there in the CSU Oval, surrounded by their four combined kids and all their closest friends and family. The reception that followed at the Lory Student Center Ballroom was decorated with fun DIY details, highlighting Jim + Sharilyn’s love for hunting (how cute is that cake topper?!) and their love for CSU.
We feel so blessed to call these two our friends, and we’re so excited to have been able to go home to Colorado for the weekend to document their wedding. Now, we just need to move back already!!
