Indio Backyard Wedding

What an amazing wedding to have ended 2015 on! Chris + Kelsey’s intimate Indio backyard wedding from last week was so sweet and special, we felt honored to be there. We have looked forward to this wedding for months, especially after shooting their sunrise engagement session earlier this fall and we are so thrilled to be sharing this final wedding of the year on the blog today! It took us a little longer than normal to get it up, due to the fact we were both laid up the last few days with the flu (we almost made it through the holidays without anyone getting sick … sigh) … so we’re super happy to get these favorite images of Chris + Kelsey’s special day shared!

They met a couple of years ago, by chance … or as some would say – fate. Chris knew that night that he met someone special (even though he gave her the “bro hug” when they said their goodbyes that night) … and soon after, they were inseparable. Together, they moved down to the desert from Northern California to begin their life together! Kelsey, a teacher, and Chris, who’s studying to become an EMT, are just so sweet together; we just loved the way Chris couldn’t keep his eyes off his beautiful bride!

It was a beautiful late December afternoon in Indio, which turned into a chilly desert winter night – instead of a coat, Kelsey added a simple orange-and-blue plaid flannel to the top of her dress to turn her dress into a casual (and very Kelsey-like) gown!  It was a very simple yet intimate wedding, with only their closest friends and family attending. They skipped having a big bridal party, although Chris’s childhood best friend (affectionately referred to as “Moose”) was the best man. Chris + Kelsey’s backyard wedding took place in her parents’ beautiful new backyard in the new housing development in Indio, Trilogy at the Polo Club. The backyard was simply decorated with streamers and burlap-covered mason jars, lit by candles and heated by a gorgeous built-in fireplace. The poolside ceremony was officiated by Kelsey’s father, Alan, who led a beautiful ceremony that spoke of commitment and true love.

Following their ceremony, everyone gathered around the fire pit and huddled inside from the desert winter night weather, enjoying a tasty BBQ dinner. The dinner was catered by local favorite, CV BBQ, which was absolutely delicious (seriously, if you’re looking for BBQ  for your event or wedding in the Coachella Valley – you gotta call CV BBQ for a taste-test!).

We’re so happy for our friends, Chris + Kelsey, and we hope they’re enjoying their Hawaiian honeymoon! Congratulations, guys! xoxo
