You KNOW wedding season is off to a great start when the first wedding of the fall totally makes you cry! Ken and Liz’s military wedding at Cielo at Castle Pines this past weekend was the absolute best way to start off our incredible fall season!! Ever since their engagement session earlier this summer, after Ken returned home from deployment, Randy + I looked forward to celebrating these two together with their friends and family. Ken and Liz’s wedding was a long time coming; they actually met in high school through a mutual friend. It wasn’t long after these two made it official that both of them knew that eventually they’d get married (Liz even had Ken listed as “future husband” in her cell phone!). And watching them together, they’re just absolutely adorable together!
Their wedding at Cielo at Castle Pines featured tones of mint and gold, and a simple but elegant wedding cake with biblical verses from Corinthians on the bottom layer (and it smelled beyond amazing!). The rain held off all day, and their outdoor ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt; Ken could hardly contain his emotions as Liz was escorted down the aisle by her father. He made me cry, the mom’s cry, the bridal party and about 95% of the guests! It was absolutely beautiful!
The reception was filled with so many happy and good memories, too! Ken and his mom Irene did a 7-minute long choreographed dance number (which had the whole crowd cheering!) and instead of a traditional garter toss to the single fellas at the wedding, Ken wrapped the garter around a football and put on his beloved Denver Broncos football helmet, had his dad/best man hike the ball to him, and then tossed it to the guys. So much fun! And then, it was time for the bouquet toss and instead of tossing it into the waiting hands of their single friends, instead Liz turned around and handed it to her “sister from another mister,” her childhood best friend and maid of honor Bri. And when Bri turned around, Tony (her boyfriend of two years and one of Ken’s groomsman) was down on bended knee with a surprise proposal! Except, everyone knew about the proposal except for Bri … which made it even more amazing! And – yes, she said yes!! Congrats Bri + Tony!
I’m so thrilled for our friends Liz and Ken, and so excited for all of the amazing things coming up for them. We’ll miss them when they move to Georgia in just a few weeks! Congrats, you guys!!
