This was my second engagement session at Devil’s Lake State Park, and I can officially say that I absofreakinglutely love this part of Wisconsin. It reminds me so much of home in Colorado, so it brings me a lot of joy to visit. Devil’s Lake makes the perfect backdrop for sessions, no matter what season – I hope I can go back later this fall when it’s all golden and on fire with the gorgeous fall colors.
But for this trip, it was a (very) warm spring day with Tim and Kelly. We about sweat through our makeup, until the sun finally went down over the ridge of the ‘mountain’ (a word I use sparingly, lol). We hiked the east ridge a bit and then took a drive over to the west side of the lake, where we found tons of frogs and other lake wildlife. I’ll tell you what though – we had the freaking BEST time, just talking and hiking and pretending to not be totally out of breathe while we were hiking.
But, TBH, I knew Kelly would become one of my favorite people when I asked her what her idea of a perfect date was, and she responded with … “April 25th, because it’s not too hot and not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.” (If you get that reference, we can be best friends too!).
Anyway – I can’t wait for their wedding. Randy is actually going to be officiating it for them! WHAAAT! Until then, here are some of my faves from Tim and Kelly’s springtime engagement session at Devil’s Lake State Park!
