It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to sit down and share a recent wedding here on the blog, especially since I’ve retired from photographing them; but, I wanted to hop on and share my most recent wedding at Deerfield Estes in Waco, Texas! I flew in to Texas just a few days ago to spend the weekend with Nick and Kaylee, as well as all of their family and friends and let me tell you – Texas weddings are so fun!

Everything from the beautiful big barn, that gorgeous Texas golden sunlight in the afternoon and the incredibly delicious Texas barbecue for dinner – it was all absolutely amazing. I had such an incredible time with everyone in the wedding party, and we had a great day together celebrating and having fun!

Nick and Kaylee did a cord ceremony during their wedding, also known as God’s knot. The idea comes from Ecclesiastes 4:12, that says, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Right before the first kiss and pronunciation as husband and wife, together they wove three cords into a braid, which symbolizes the joining of two people by God into a marriage. In all my years in wedding photography, this was a first for me and I loved the idea!
